Demolition Little Rock arranges demolition in Cabot, the largest city in Lonoke County, with about 26,600 people (2020 Census), up US 67/167 about 25 miles northeast of Little Rock's center point. Cabot grew from fewer than 5,000 people in the 1980s, so most houses are newer and the work is storm damage, pools, garages, decks and the older houses near the old railroad downtown. The City of Cabot takes demolition applications.
Removing an unused Cabot pool typically costs $4,000 to $12,000; leaving a cracked shell to collect water every spring can undermine a patio or fence and still has to come out before the lot sells.

A town that rebuilt after a tornado
On March 29, 1976 a tornado hit downtown Cabot, killed five people and destroyed several buildings. The city rebuilt its center as City Plaza, with a new city hall, library and police station, and storms have kept coming: roof and tree damage is a regular part of the work here. After a storm, take photos and talk to the insurer before anything is hauled. The storm damage demolition page explains the order.
Applying in Cabot
Inside the city, the City of Cabot's Planning and Zoning office lists an Application for Demolition alongside its other permit applications. Start there, and ask Cabot Water Works how the water service should be cut and capped before the house comes down. Outside the city limits, Lonoke County applies. For a covered job, the state asbestos rule still comes first: a thorough inspection, then a Notice of Intent at least 10 working days ahead.

Call (501) 222-3828Ground that is wet from December to April
At Cabot's Census point the USDA soil survey maps Sawyer silt loam on 3 to 8 percent slopes, moderately well drained, with a perched water table 2 to 3 feet below the surface from December through April in most years. A pool shell broken out in February can fill like a bathtub. Pump it, let it dry, backfill in compacted layers and crown the top. The pool removal page covers full removal against a pool fill-in.
Newer houses, older downtown
Cabot started in 1873 around a railroad refueling station and was incorporated in 1891, but most of its growth came after the 1980s as Little Rock commuters and families from the air base at Jacksonville, about 9 miles away, moved in. That makes whole-house teardowns rarer here than in older towns. The older frame houses near the railroad downtown are the exception, and they are the ones most often taken down to build again.

Call (501) 222-3828Garages, decks and outbuildings
Much of the work on Cabot lots is smaller structures: a detached garage, a storage building, a carport or a deck. These are usually short jobs once the permit is in hand. Where a deck or carport is attached to the house, the crew leaves the wall weathertight. See garage demolition for prices.
